jones the grocer (www.jonesthegrocer.co.nz) is a highly successful food store based in Newmarket. With exciting growth plans for 2009, we are seeking a passionate customer centric Operations Manager to share the jones the grocer philosophy of bringing a gourmet, everyday experience to the ever growing market of discerning food lovers.
What You Will Learn, Do And Become…
- The first 3 months will be spent completing a comprehensive induction covering the business and all company policies, systems and processes.
- This training, and drawing on your retail experience, will ensure you are set up to be responsible for the operation of the Newmarket Store, encompassing café, grocery and catering department.
- Using leading point of sale system, you’ll track and measure weekly sales, and set targets for the new business week.
- Your close attention to stock levels will ensure timely stock taking and ordering is completed.
- Utilising your retail sales experience, you’ll create grocery / café / catering promotions to achieve weekly and quarterly sales targets.
- jones has spent the past several years developing strong exclusive relationships with local and international suppliers of premium products. You’ll enjoy building relationships with our suppliers and selecting premium products for our customers. Equally, you’ll enjoy building relationships with our loyal in-store customers and local businesses. Keeping a pulse on what is happening and identifying opportunities to meet sales, supply and demand expectations.
- Staff leadership is a key function of this role. You’ll be driven to inspire store staff to exceed customer expectations. This will involve weekly and daily meetings to ensure staff are set up to achieve store targets covering such things as promotion training, product education and recognition of top performing staff. Direct report performance management and staff hiring will be your responsibility plus staff rostering.
- You’re remuneration package is designed to be competitive on a base salary basis, with the addition of attractive incentives for achieving store sales targets. You’ll play a big part in the store success and jones will reward you handsomely for meeting targets. Jones will ensure you have all support to achieve these goals, whilst you’ll draw on your strengths of drive, determination, creativity, initiative, business acumen, experience, leadership and a genuine interest in this industry.
- Jones Newmarket store is the flagship for jones the grocer NZ master franchise. In 2009, new stores are planned and consequently this growth will create new career opportunities. Anticipated opportunities include assisting new site set-ups, training of new franchisees, and running operations for all of New Zealand.
- Jones is seeking a result orientated, personable, and experienced individual; therefore, flexible on employment contract preference e.g. contract or permanent employment basis. If you are new to NZ with international grocery store management experience, please note you require a work permit (minimum 12 month) to apply for this role. This is a 40-hour per week role with some weekend work.
